Cell Culture Facility
The BMERCL is equipped with a BSL 2 facility, a 170 square foot room with positive pressure HEPA-filtered air.
*Use of this facility requires the appropriate Safety training and approved Biosafety protocols.
The Cell Culture Area is equipped with:

CO2 incubators
- 2 Nuaire NU-5500 Air-Jacketed DH Autoflow incubators. The incubators are preset to 37˚C, 5% CO2, and high humidity for mammalian cell growth. These settings can be adjusted by the BMERCL manager to accommodate specific experiments or cell lines after the Experimental Protocol has been received and approved, and a time has been scheduled.

Water bath
- Precision Reciprocal Shaking Water Bath Model 25 preset to 37˚C. Do not change temperature without notifying the BMERCL manager.

Inverted microscope
- Olympus CK2 inverted microscope with 4X, 10X, 20X and 40X phase contrast objectives.
Refrigerator/freezer
- Frigidaire 21 cubic feet refrigerator/freezer for temporary media and serum storage.

User Fees
The following fees apply to every day that any equipment in the Cell Culture Facility is being used; i.e., usage of the CO2 incubators for cell/tissue growth will be charged at the same rate. Charges will be assessed based on the greater of scheduled time or actual use time.
